Borrowing with Castle & Minster Credit Union

Loans may be applied for: -

Either after three months regular savings but can be granted earlier subject to an income & expenditure statement being completed.

Loan applications are completed either at the branches listed on our Contact Us page, or at a collection point. Members may also telephone or email requesting a loan form to be sent to their home address or by downloading the form.

Once the loan form is completed you will be notified of the result of the application as soon as possible, however we are experiencing very high levels of demand and applications are currently taking up to 3 weeks. The directors have recruited more staff to help with the backlog and the staff are doing all they can to speed things up.

The maximum loan currently allowed by law is £15,000 above your share holding (subject to Status) please contact us for full details.  There are neither administrative costs with the credit union nor penalties for early repayment of your loan.

Credit Decisions and the Prevention of Fraud and Money Laundering

We may use credit reference and fraud prevention agencies to help us make decisions.  A short guide to what we do and how both we and credit reference and fraud prevention agencies will use your information is detailed on the page called Using and Sharing Your Information.


Savings Withdrawals

You can withdraw from your savings in person at branches or at a collection point; by writing to us at the address above; or by emailing us at info@castleandminster.co.uk giving your name and address and member number if you have it, and how much you wish to withdraw. We will send a cheque to your home address by return. Alternatively you can download the share withdrawal form


MortgagePlus+ Insurance

Mortgage COVER+ is an affordable Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance Policy designed for credit union members (offered in partnership with CUNA Mutual).  It can provide real peace of mind should you be out of work due to illness, an accident, or involuntary unemployment and you are a named borrower on the mortgage.

 

The policy will pay you a monthly amount up to the value of £2,500 for up to 24 months (2 years). 

 

Mortgage COVER + offers protection if you work 16 hours or more per week and are aged over 18 years and under 65 years.  You must have been in employment for at least 6 months (excluding seasonal or temporary employment).

The policy offers:

  • Cover from under £5 per month
  • Flexible terms so you can pay for the cover you need
  • You can arrange cover for up to £150% of your mortgage payments to cover additional bills

  • Benefits are paid directly to you - meaning you are in control of your money at a time of need
  • This is not directly linked to your mortgage. 

Family LIFE+ insurance

 

Losing a loved one is difficult - and yet many life assurance policies take months or even years to settle claims, which can put you or your loved ones out-of-pocket for the costs, such as funeral expenses, arising from the bereavement of a family member.

 

With FamilyLIFE+, you can insure yourself, your Spouse/Significant Other, your parents or the parents of your Spouse/Significant Other, plus your children (subject to a maximum of 12 insured persons). Children under age 18 are free, until their 18th Birthday.

 

Family LIFE+ is a unique whole of life policy, with a fixed benefit designed for credit union members (in partnership with CUNA Mutual).  It offers peace of mind for you and your family at an affordable price.

 

You can choose a benefit of £2000, £3000, £4000 or £6000. The cover is guaranteed for as long as premiums continue to be paid to the Insurer and until the last of the insured persons die.
